Memories of Our Winnie the Beagle...

Winnie lived a happy life from 3.25.97 – 12.19. 01.

Memories of Winnie…

Getting you from the breeders – you were the last one left and smelled so bad it took two washes to get you clean. You were so tiny, and so very cute.

The way you used to whizz round the living room in your first home. You would do big circles all over the furniture and run up the stairs into each room, run down and do the circuit again.

You loved to go walking in McAlpine Creek Park with Daddy on his days off.

Your insatiable appetite.

You howling at the dalmation across the street, every time you saw him.

Your love of the couch.

Your love of a ray of sunshine – wherever it was in the house you would be sure to find it and lay in it till it was gone.

You jumping up on the coffee table during a party, eating a platter of shrimp!

You jumping up on the dining table eating leftovers!

Your jingling dog tags that let us know which room you were in.

The thud of your feet hitting the ground as you jumped off our bed when you heard your name being called.

The way you’d spin in circles and jump up and down for your dinner – at 4pm!

How we barely recognized you when you’d stayed in the kennels for two days during November 1999 – you’d put on about 10lbs!

How you looked really good this summer as you’d lost all the weight. You could jump on the furniture again and run around the back yard.

How you didn’t get the invisible fence at all and were afraid to go outside for days after you got shocked.

How you learned where the invisible fencing perimeter was and ran laps outside it, just far enough away from Lucky to rile him up as he could never get you.

How you would eat your food, Lucky’s food and then still look for more.

On vacation at the Outer Banks – finding out how much you really were buddies with Katie. You were her special little friend and walked so well up and down the beach together, no pulling at all.

Your howl – AROOOOO!

Beagles Really Do Rule...

This site started out being a site about my beagle over a decade ago. Winnie passed away but is still warmly remembered and missed. The photo to the left is the last one I took of her.

Now another beagle [mix] has come into my home and I am constantly reminded that beagles have voracious appetites!

If you have a beagle, or another breed of dog, please enjoy this site and come again. I will be expanding it over time to incorporate more things beagle.

Beagle blessings,
Fran.
